Ulpan
In addition to our academic Hebrew language classes, Hebrew College offers New England's most comprehensive modern Hebrew program—its nine-level Ulpan. Adapting the linguistic immersion method developed and popularized in Israel, Ulpan is a full-language program that teaches grammar, reading comprehension and conversation skills. Through discussion of contemporary political, social and cultural topics, and through readings drawn from current Israeli news and social commentary, Ulpan brings Hebrew to life. Ulpan courses are offered at Hebrew College and, when enrollment warrants, at satellite sites throughout Greater Boston and MetroWest. Students are grouped in classes according to Hebrew language ability. Classes meet either twice a week for an hour and 50 minutes or once a week for three full hours. During Summer Institutes, all nine levels are available, in a condensed format, subject to enrollment numbers.
